The "Savage" Washing machine 1932

As semi automatic washing machines go, this one was one of the first, from the 1930`s it was one of the first to have a dual purpose tub. To wash, the tub was loaded from the top then tilted to act like todays front loaders.

Then when you had finished tumbling the clothes you swung the tub upright and spun the clothes dry. Very innovative for its day.

Who remembers the famous Hotpoint Purple Liberator range made in the UK in 1975. Here is the model 1851 Liberator De Luxe and matching dryer.This set has been restored by a friend of mine, Lee James and would you believe is 40yrs old this year!! Does Your Automatic Washer say "Liberator De Luxe" ? Although referred to as The Purple Range , the colour name is "Amethyst". The push buttons where graduated in shades of Amethyst to White.
