The Trusty Servis TwinTub, first made in 1959 and continued production until the 80's, took a 6lb washload and spun the same at 2,800rpm, Mums worked for 16 years washing 3 times a week for six of us!! Does anyone have washday stories of their models??

The steam rising into the kitchen, the smells and aroma of washing powders such as Ariel, Persil, Tide and Surf. And the clothes being squeezed through the big rollers, squeezing all that hot soapy water out. Who remembers the famous Hotpoint Purple Liberator range made in the UK in 1975. Here is the model 1851 Liberator De Luxe and matching dryer.This set has been restored by a friend of mine, Lee James and would you believe is 40yrs old this year!! Does Your Automatic Washer say "Liberator De Luxe" ? Although referred to as The Purple Range , the colour name is "Amethyst". The push buttons where graduated in shades of Amethyst to White.
