Remembering Margo, Dame Penelope Keith from The Good Life

A homage to Dame Penelope Keith or as we remember her Margo Leadbetter from the TV series The Good Life . It follows Tom & Barbara Good who abandon conventional life to live self sufficiently in suburban Surbiton , Surrey , UK. They live next door to Margo & Jerry Leadbetter a snobbish banker set couple. Margo has a domestic cleaner help called Mrs Pearson who in one episode goes on holiday leaving Margo to use her own Electrolux Z90 vacuum Cleaner made up the road in Luton, England , UK While Margo uses the Electrolux Cleaner it starts to omit a high pitched whistle. Margo assumes its broken and sticks it in a shopping trolley wheeling it around to Tom & Barbara`s to see if they can FIX it. Tom attempts to take it apart while Barbara has a wrye smile on here face as she knows what the problem is . This New Fangled Electrolux Z90 has a DeLuxe feature - It Whistles When The Bag Is Full much to Margo`s distain when everyone laughs at her for not knowing !!

Hotpoint 1851 Liberator De Luxe Washing Machine 1975

Who remembers the famous Hotpoint Purple Liberator range made in the UK in 1975. Here is the model 1851 Liberator  De Luxe and matching dryer.This set has been restored by a friend of mine, Lee James and would you believe is 40yrs old this year!! Does Your Automatic Washer say "Liberator De Luxe" ? Although referred to as The Purple Range , the colour name is "Amethyst". The push buttons where graduated in shades of Amethyst to White. Hotpoint 1842 Automatic Washing Machine (1981)

Here is the 1981 version of Hotpoint UK`s washing machine, now re-styled in the 70 / 80`s brown tone to compliment your Hygena kitchen units, this was made for Currys Electrical Stores as an exclusive model.  It took a 9lb washload and had an 800rpm spin speed the lower spin for delicates was 500rpm. Hot and Cold fill was the standard of the day and a cotton wash usually took no more than an hour to complete. The 3 compartment dispenser held pre-wash, main wash and fabric conditioner, the push button controls where for Economy - using your hot water and cutting out the heater. Gentle Action - reduces the drum speed for delicate fabrics. Slow Spin, reduces spin speed to 500rpm for delicate fabrics and Push Button door release. Here is the matching set. Did you have one ?
