Presenting the Servis Model "A" Wringer Washer Click Here To See Pics of the Servis Model "A" Washing Machine This is the first washing machine produced in 1929 by Wilkins & Mitchell, the Servis Washing Machine Company, in Darlaston, West Midlands. It comprises an aluminium tub mounted on a tripod with a motor fastened underneath. The motor drives a gearbox which operates the metal agitator and a power wringer. This first machine revolutionised washday and the same agitator action was still being used in Servis machines up until 1985 when production of twintubs ceased.
