Heres The Washer That Started My Interest!!

The Trusty Servis TwinTub, first made in 1959 and continued production until the 80's, took a 6lb washload and spun the same at 2,800rpm, Mums worked for 16 years washing 3 times a week for six of us!! Does anyone have washday stories of their models?? http://www.flickr.com/photos/chestermikeuk/sets/72157601117657796/detail/

They dont make them like this anymore,  keyplates to programme, clicks, whirrs & lots of splashing hot & cold water, see it wash on a cottons 60d wash programme use the Hoover Boiling Action Pulsator and no faff going straight into a 740rpm spin!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/chestermikeuk

12 Minute WashTimes - Myth or Reality!!

The Hoover Keymatic in the nostalgia pic had very fast wash times at only four mins a wash when the correct temperature was reached and then 3 rinses...completing a cycle in around 30mins for a 4kg load...BUT did use rather a lot of water at 30 gallons a cycle... Although the new machines are quoting "12 min Wash Times" this programme will be designed for "Worn Once" or in order to "Refresh" items of clothing, and you would have to use quick dispersing detergents for optimum results. Quick isnt always best when needing to wash a maximum load, but then there are many machines on sale with very long wash times in order to get the "Energy Ratings". Todays machines are the most efficient they have ever been using minimum water, detergent and electricity to wash larger maximum loads, but sometimes at the expense of TIME..!!!
